Chasing the Aurora

Yarn Club 2025

For one of my yarn clubs in 2025 I have chosen the theme of Chasing the Aurora. I adore all things Aurora, the colours and the magic and also how by witnessing a natural phenomenon makes you feel so good and happy within. Living in North East Scotland I am very very lucky to be able to see them when they’re out in force…unless it is cloudy!

Every month from January, you get to pre order a skein (or few) of one of the amazing Aurora Borealis. I will hand dye my own interpretation in your choice of wool or plant fibre base in a dk or sock 4ply weight. Colours will not be told in advance but will be similar to those in the photos and documented previous Auroras and other natural rare events above around the world.

Yarn bases will be:

Wool

75% superwash merino & 25% nylon

dk 225m per 100g

sock 4ply 425m per 100g

80% superwash merino & 15% donegal neon neps

dk 212m per 100g

sock 4ply 400m per 100g

Plant Fibre

100% tencel

dk 225m per 100g

4ply 400m per 100g

 70% Organic Cotton & 30% Linen

dk 225m per 100g

4ply 400m per 100g

Choose to get a full skein only or add some mini skeins to complement. By adding these, they will be in the same base and weight as your main skein. Opt for 3 or 6 in different colours

What is Tencel?!
Tencel fibres are created from the pulp of sustainably harvested eucalyptus trees. This pulp is dissolved and spun into fibres which are woven together to create an extremely strong but smooth yarn.  The ultra fine structure means that it is gentle on the skin and a great fibre to wear which drapes beautifully. It is highly absorbent and it's natural high shine silky smooth finish makes it kinder to the skin than cotton or wool. It's also eco-friendly and biodegradable.

What are Neon Neps?!
This Donegal nep yarn is a bit special, the Neps glow in the dark under Ultraviolet light. Our Donegal nep yarns are high twist with non-dyeable Donegal neps, they resist the dye remaining prominent in the yarns. This yarn knits up into a lovely soft fabric with a nice drape. Available in 4ply and dk weights.

All will be hand dyed by Karina in her dye studio in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
These will be received in skein form, please remove all ties before winding.
---
Laundry care - Hand wash using warm water and a wool wash is recommended, do not use hot water, scented or strong detergents as these may make the yarn bleed a little colour or shrink your finished items. Do not tumble dry. Hang or dry flat. Please note that all yarn is hand dyed. Even though the same colours may have been dyed in the same batch, due to the nature of hand dyeing, please alternate between skeins for a larger project.
Colour may differ slightly due to screen resolutions. All items are hand dyed by me in my dye studio.

Stock readily available will be shipped within 5-7 business days once checkout is completed. All items within the UK will be sent by Royal Mail. Shipping outside of the UK will be sent tracked and signed. Pre orders and yarn clubs will be each have their own shipping dates - please refer to each listing.

For project ideas and colours please visit my Facebook group - search Rainbow Fusions. Pattern suggestions will be shared in my group as well as Instagram page. You can of course choose your own patterns.
